What is a keylogger you ask?
It is a (hidden) software you install on a computer that records every single button a person presses on it. Typically you can also program it to take screenshots at specific times as well. For instance, you can set it to take a screenshot every time a certain word is typed such as Ashley Madison, meet up, meet tonight, fuck, porn… you get the idea.
When you go back and sort through the data you can also find/figure out people’s passwords to any site they logged in to just by looking for a certain website and then see if there is an obvious user name and password after it.
These days if you can get into someone’s Chrome account you can access the passwords they have saved in it as well. Just a little tip!
To install one of these you typically need access to the computer, unlocked for a minimum of 15 minutes.
The ones I like to use have a small USB drive that you plugin to do the installation. Once it’s done you pull that baby out and wait a few weeks before you will do this again in order to download the data to that same USB drive.
There are ones out there that will give you an account/dashboard where you can log in from anywhere to see the data any time as well.
There are legal considerations for using keylogging software. These vary by state but typically say that you need to be the owner of the device in order to track it in this manner. If you are tracking your spouse on their personal computer this is usually ok since it is yours under martial property. If it is their work computer, owned by the company they work for this would be illegal. Please consider these things before you use a keylogger because you are solely responsible for any consequences or legal action that results.
